Balance GPU throughput, CPU frame delivery and monitor features for a demanding high-refresh target.

Set the evidence boundary
A 1440p 144 Hz monitor can show up to 144 updates each second, but the build does not need to lock every game to 144 FPS to be useful. Define which games need competitive high refresh and which may run at a lower variable rate with higher image quality.
Compare tests at the relevant quality preset and separate native rendering, upscaling and frame generation. These modes can all be valuable, but they describe different base performance and latency behavior.
Balance the tower
Allocate enough budget to the GPU without reducing the CPU platform, PSU or cooling below sensible floors. Verify exact card size, power connection and PSU headroom. A 1440p build is often expected to last through future games, so memory capacity and storage room also matter.
