Optional low-trust accounts do not verify email ownership.
Hardware purchases are completed on merchant websites.
The current site does not install behavioral ad trackers.
1. Scope
This policy applies to techmuz.com and the TechMuz PC planning, catalog, compatibility and editorial services that link to it. It does not govern Newegg, Dell, Best Buy, manufacturers or other third-party websites. Their privacy policies apply after you visit them.
References to “TechMuz,” “we,” “us” or “our” mean the operator of techmuz.com.
2. Information we collect
TechMuz does not collect names, postal addresses, payment-card details or purchase histories for these accounts. Because email ownership is not verified, do not use an account for orders, payment, identity or sensitive personal information.
3. How we use information
We use the information described above to:
- create or access an optional low-trust account, secure registration and sign-in, change a password, and revoke sessions;
- generate PC recommendations and compatibility results requested by you;
- operate, secure, troubleshoot and improve the site and its data;
- route you to the merchant or source link you selected and understand whether links function correctly;
- prevent abuse, investigate errors and protect the rights and safety of users, TechMuz and others;
- respond to questions and privacy requests; and
- comply with law and enforce our Terms of Use.
6. Sale, sharing and targeted advertising
TechMuz does not currently sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. The site does not currently use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about visitors.
Affiliate links are commercial relationships, but following one does not mean TechMuz sells your personal information. The merchant or affiliate network may independently collect data under its own policy. If TechMuz's practices change, we will provide the notices and opt-out methods required by applicable law.
7. Retention
Builder and compatibility input is processed to return a result and is not retained in an account profile. Authentication challenges expire after five minutes and old challenge rows are periodically removed. Sessions expire after 30 days or earlier when you sign out or change your password. A password change invalidates prior sessions. Account records remain until deletion is requested or they are no longer reasonably needed. Server, security, diagnostic and merchant-link logs are kept only as long as reasonably necessary for operation, fraud prevention, troubleshooting, legal compliance and dispute resolution, then deleted or de-identified under the applicable provider and operational schedules.
Communications are retained while needed to respond and maintain an appropriate record of the request.
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards appropriate to the limited information we process, including versioned scrypt password hashing, one-way session-token digests, same-origin checks, attempt limits and session invalidation after password changes. The verification image reduces automated abuse; it does not verify email ownership. No website or transmission method is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Your privacy choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of or deletion of personal information; learn about the categories, sources, purposes and recipients involved; receive a portable copy; object to or restrict certain processing; withdraw consent; or appeal a decision. Where applicable, you also have the right not to be discriminated against for exercising a privacy right.
Submit a request to privacy@techmuz.com. Describe the right you wish to exercise and the context in which you interacted with TechMuz. A signed-in session may help locate an account, but because the account does not prove email ownership we may require additional information reasonably necessary to prevent deletion or disclosure to the wrong person.
You may also control referrer information, cookies and similar browser features through your browser. TechMuz does not currently sell or share personal information in a way that requires an opt-out link.
10. Children
TechMuz is a general-audience service and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.
11. International access
TechMuz is designed primarily for the United States market. If you access it from another country, information may be processed in the United States or other places where our providers operate. Those locations may have privacy laws different from the laws where you live.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service, providers or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top identifies the current version. If a change materially affects how we use personal information, we will provide additional notice where required.
13. Contact
Privacy questions and requests can be sent to privacy@techmuz.com. For general legal terms, see our Terms of Use.
